CASA/My Home

A collaborative
project, started in 2000, Mi Casa/My Home annually provides safe and affordable
housing for up to seven pregnant and parenting teens and up to nine
infants at one time. City of Bridgeport Home Funds were used to rehabilitate a
house at 25 Ford Place (near Bridgeport Hospital), only minutes from
GBAPP's main office. Teens may reside at Mi Casa/My Home for up to
two years. While there, they receive case management services, housing, meals,
clothing, life skills, and access to primary care, day care, and
education.
Mi Casa/My Home is located at 25 Ford Place in Bridgeport

What
is the Program's Goal?
Staffed
24 hours a day, seven days a week, Mi Casa/My Home
provides the type of support and services teen mothers and their
children need in order to stay healthy. Ultimately, Mi Casa/My Home
will help prepare teen mothers for parenthood and independent
living.
The key to Mi Casa/My
Home is ongoing education and counseling to prevent subsequent
births, promote good decision making skills and to understand the
nature of risk-taking behavior. Mi Casa/My Home, staff also provide follow up and reinforce
teens and their children's need to live independently and
succeed.
