History
The Greater Bridgeport Adolescent Pregnancy Program (GBAPP)
was created in 1980 as a public/private partnership to address the
problem of adolescent pregnancy in the greater Bridgeport area. In 1992,
our mission was expanded to include issues related to the prevention and
early intervention of HIV/AIDS among youth, women and children.
Over the last decade, GBAPP has played a
major role in community-based program planning, facilitation,
coordination, implementation and provision of services.
GBAPP works to establish a vital network
of people and organizations to address the complex problem of teen
pregnancy and HIV prevention by identifying needs and developing
strategies and policies to effect change through established or newly
created systems.

Mission and Goals
The mission of GBAPP is to decrease pregnancy and early
parenthood in adolescents, and reduce sexually transmitted diseases and
HIV/AIDS in children, youth, women and men in the Bridgeport area through
direct service delivery, including outreach, counseling, prevention
education and case management, and coordination of services, resource
development, training and advocacy.

GBAPP's goals are:
1. To increase the availability and accessibility of
prevention, early intervention, preventive intervention, and treatment
and care for pre-teens and teens whose sexual behavior places them at
risk for pregnancy and/or STDs and HIV/AIDS.
2. To provide access to services for traditionally underserved
adolescents and young people at risk for pregnancy, sexually transmitted
diseases and HIV infection.
3. To identify HIV-infected women and adolescents earlier in the course
of their disease through street-based outreach and case management
services and provide coordinated HIV care and referral to health and
support services.
4. To provide accurate information and education on family roles and
expectations, child development and parenting, and human sexuality and
sexual behavior, as appropriate to age, culture and development level.
5. To coordinate the provision of Ryan White Title I services in the
Bridgeport area.
Location
